There’s something so powerfully spoken in just one image, taken from inside the womb of a mother. That of the life of a baby. From a person’s view, outside looking inward, it is as though one is looking into a peripheral view of one’s own life being made, morphed, and developed.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Within weeks of conception, hands, feet, head, and heart are the wonderous elements that begin to form and shape human life. The hand of God is amazing. There are many passages in scripture that let us know the mighty hand of God is perfect in design. In Isaiah 48:13 (NKJV), God tells Isaiah, He was always there, the first and the last and that His hands laid the handiwork of all creation, “Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth,
and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, they stand up together.” He knits together every life and calls each “precious.” Life is nothing short of the work of our Perfect Maker.

Scripture tells us in Psalm 139:13 (NKJV) “For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb”. The psalmist praises God the Almighty Creator of all humanity by saying in Psalm 139:14-15 (NKJV), “Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

The imagery spoken about the wonderous works of a Maker who designed what a human looks like, is unmatched. There has never been a more perfect design on earth. God sees us as we are — image-bearers through His one and only Son, Jesus. How then, can we turn away and deny our Maker? He formed us from the dust of the earth for His glory.

Perfection & Beauty

God is perfect in all His ways. He has never created a mistake. This includes both you and me. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good,” (Proverbs 15:3, ESV). As we recognize the sovereignty of God’s faithfulness and mercy, we see Him in all things. The whole Earth cries out to Him. His voice thunders, and the Earth quakes. He fills us with the riches of his presence. He was the one who laid the foundations of the Earth and spoke us into existence. Psalm 29:9 (ESV), “The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth, and strips the forests bare; And in His temple everyone says, ˜Glory!’” The beauty through God’s workmanship of life breathed into existence happens with just His breath at a time when he sees fit, reveals God’s great glory manifested into our being into creation. We serve an ever-present, living God who, through his might took great joy in making us and breathing life into us

Our God takes pleasure in knowing us. He sees beauty amongst our ashes. He sees our righteousness through the blood of the atoning work of His Son, Jesus Christ. What true beauty in His character, excellence in His works of creation and perfect Holiness in His atoning work on the Cross.

We must remember that the most High God is our Great King who reigns over all the Earth. Psalm 47 (NKJV) exalts the Lord God as King over all the Earth. Verses 3-4 says, “He will subdue the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet. He will choose our inheritance for us, the excellence of Jacob whom He loves.” Verses 8-9, “God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. The princes of the people have gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.”

Created in His Image

The next time you look at an ultrasound of a baby formed in the womb, remember the works of The Lord’s hand who knitted and shaped each person. Science cannot even explain how a human being is formed or what they will look like. Our Creator breathes life into every one of us. Psalm 90:1-2 (NKJV), “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”

We can see the depth, beauty, and the love of God through His creation. He saw us as we were formed in the womb and His hands wove us into being. We are made in the image of Christ, Himself.
