A proverbial sigh of relief could be heard and felt across the Nation when the Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade. Despite this enormous victory in the pro-life arena, the fight is not over. There remains a war on the sanctity of life, for both mothers and babies, as the abortion pill availability and use continues to rise at alarming levels, regardless of the emotional and physical aftermath left for a mother to bear alone.

A judge in the Northern District of Texas has waged war against the abortion pill, also known as the chemical abortion process. On April 7th Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled in favor of the Alliance Defending Freedom group to reverse the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of mifepristone, the first component in the drug cocktail used to kill babies in more than 50 percent of abortions in the United States.

Kacsmaryk’s ruling didn’t stop the production or access to the abortion pill, as the U.S. Supreme Court issued a stay of action for the time being. However, it has gotten the attention of legal and medical entities across America, reminding Planned Parenthood that the fight to save the lives of babies and spare the hearts of mothers is in full force.

PreBorn! Founder and President, Dan Steiner, shared his thoughts on the matter on the Ben Shapiro Show this past month.

Battle Waged Against the FDA

According to Steiner, an injunction has been filed against the FDA, stating that the FDA did not do its due diligence in researching the potential risks to mothers who undertake the chemical abortion process.

“The FDA did not properly vet the risk to women. They neglected their statutory duty of evaluating the complications and the risks,” Steiner shared on the Ben Shapiro show. “They just pushed it through politically. They’re playing pickleball with women’s health with this abortion pill.”

The outcome of the injunction should come back by May 17th; however, months of appeals are expected following the release of the injunction outcome.

What Is the Abortion Pill?

The abortion pill, also known as a chemical abortion, is a two-part process used to terminate the life of a baby through oral application of a lethal pill cocktail. Expectant mothers within the first 10 weeks of their pregnancy begin the abortion process by taking the first pill, mifepristone.

This pill blocks the hormone that creates progesterone in the mother’s body, creating an unstable living environment for the baby in the mother’s uterus. Without this hormone, the lining of the uterus begins to break down, making it impossible for the baby to survive in utero.

Approximately 24-48 hours after the expectant mother begins the progesterone-blocking portion of the chemical abortion process, she then takes the second part of the lethal cocktail, misoprostol. This pill causes the mother’s uterus to contract, forcing her body into a miscarriage. The mother will experience pain and heavy bleeding as she passes the body of her dead baby to complete the chemical abortion.

Abortion Pill Risks

Abortionists casually equate the abortion pill process to the simplicity of taking a pill to get rid of a headache. The truth, the scars run much deeper and the risks are much higher than pro-choice advocates are willing to share.

“They (mothers) are coming into our Cinics with their babies wrapped in wash clothes, not knowing what they are going to do with the baby’s body. It’s traumatic psychologically on the woman,” Steiner shared. “This is very dangerous to women, in a host of ways, but that’s not mentioned. It’s abortion rights and they say that abortion is healthcare, when in fact, the FDA did overreach. Pregnancy is not a disease that they had to rule about in the first place.”

According to Steiner, some reports indicate that 1 out of every 10 women that take the abortion pill end up in the emergency room, suffering with a chemical abortion complication. This isn’t surprising, as the deadly cocktail is accessible via the telehealth platform and received by mail order, with no doctors or nurses involved in the process.

Additional risks associated with the abortion pill include hemorrhaging, life-threatening infections, emotional trauma, and of course, the imminent death of the baby.
